Buyer Preparation Tips

As you prepare to purchase a property, here are some things to consider:

Buyer Showing Tips

When viewing properties, although it can be an emotional time, view the process as a business decision. Come prepared to purchase. Bring checkbook for Earnest Money and Option Money. Allot time to submit offer. Rate each property on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the perfect. However, typically, perfect homes are hard to find so, any home that rates an 8 or 9 should be strongly considered as a home to submit and offer on. As you rate each property, consider:  neighborhood, property curbside appeal, first impression when you enter the home, property finish out, repairs needed, if any and size of home relative to your needs. As with all things, keep an open mind. Things are not always as they appear.

Buyer Contract-to-Close Tips

Now that you are under contract, what should you do? Turn in any fees associated with contract. Schedule inspections: Mechanical Inspection and Wood Destroying Insect Inspection. Finalize financing.

Buyer Moving Tips

Moving… do your research. Take measurements. Order moving supplies. Perishable items – use it or lose it. Think ahead. Make sure you are covered with insurance. Transfer your children’s school records. Make arrangements for pets.
